Mayoral challenger to dine for charity with Mayor
March 12, 2007
Grand Rapids mayoral candidate Jim Rinck was the high bidder at this past weekend’s annual City High School fundraising auction for a dinner with Mayor Heartwell. Heartwell donated a ‘Dinner with the Mayor’ as an item to be auctioned off at this year’s annual fundraising event.
Mayoral candidate Jim Rinck, who attended the event with his family, couldn’t resist the opportunity to have a quiet dinner with his opponent. Rinck, whose oldest son attends City High School, “saw this as an opportunity to help the PTSA (Parent, Teacher, Student Association) raise funds for the incredibly valuable work that they do for the education of our kids”. “It was a lot of fun. Nearly everyone there knows that I am challenging the Mayor this year; that drew a lot of attention to this particular auction, making it one of the highlights of the evening”.
Rinck says that he and his wife Debra will use the dinner opportunity to relax with Heartwell, “to take a break from campaigning, enjoy Heartwell’s company and to share stories about Grand Rapids”.
